Commuter Challenge - Organize your teams and compete today!

commuting commuter challenge contest competition

The Commuter Challenge is a fun and interactive way to get your employees, co-workers, friends, neighbors and/or classmates to improve the way they get to work, school or other daily recurring events.

Select the teams, select the time period, and track results each day, to see which team does the best job of minimizing their impact on commuting!

The contest should be a short duration (one or two weeks), and should be broken out into evenly matched teams (to stay competitive).

We are looking for teams to help us "pilot" our contest. Contact us with your ideas, and we'll help you get it setup!

Here is an example of how it works:

  1. Sponsor of event determines date period for contest, and organizes teams
  2. We setup the contest time period and teams on this website, and provide to sponser the information on how team members can register
  3. Team members sign up to join the contest and track their progress each day. They can be pre-assigned, or allowed to join a team of their choice.
  4. After each day, teams record their commute using our 1-10 point scale. Miles will not be tracked during contest, only the method of getting to work.
  5. Scores can be reviewed at any time and provided to teams at the end of each day.
  6. At the end of the contest, scores will be totaled, and the winning team will be determined based on the most average points achieved (in case team sizes vary).
  7. Prizes will be provided by the sponsor for the winning team(s)

This is a great way to raise awareness about the impact of commuting, while making it a fun, competitive activity. This is the first step in driving long-term commuting behavior changes.

There is no cost to run a contest, only your time to organize and record the information each day

Use drought resistant plants in your garden or on your lawn
These kinds of plants require less water. Typically, these are plants that are native to the local area. Most plants that require lots of water are typically those that have been placed into the wrong climate and need lots of attention (water and energy) in order to survive. This technique of planting native plants is called xeriscaping.
