Wash your fruits and produce in water and vinegar, not special cleaning solution If you do this action, you could earn another 2 points [add to points]
A few squirts of water and vinegar on your fruits and veggies gets rid of the nasty stuff (like pesticide residue) that you don't want - no store-bought washes necessary. A diluted vinegar rinse kills 98% of bacteria on produce - researchers found it works even better than a scrub brush.

Mix water to white vinegar 3:1 in an already used spray bottle. Rinse fruit or produce with water after you spray. Water and vinegar rinses cost just pennies, while the premade washes found at the store cost a couple dollars, and that doesn't include the energy and materials needed to make and ship it in the first place, or cleaning it out when you're done.
Maintain proper settings and maintenance on your fridge and freezer
Keep the refrigerator temperature about 36-38 degrees, and the freezer around 0 degrees. This will reduce electricity by not running the chillers as long, but still keeps it cold enough to protect the food. Vacuum the rear-mounted condenser coils regularly, to make sure they perform efficiently, especially if you have pets.

"I actually started skipping the drying all together. The only risk is that you meet someone you know leaving the bathroom within the first 30 seconds, before your hands dry. And I wouldn't normally shake someone's hands when leaving the restroom. Put your hands in your pockets, or shake them dry, or wait a minute. Wet paper towels in the bathroom seem to be the biggest waste I can think of..."
